Daystar iStructural.com uses projects to organize calculations.  Your first activity is to add a project and then add calculations to the Project.

A project controls the building code and units for all calculations within the project.  These settings can be changed at any time.  The project id, title and company will be shown at the top of a calculations printout.

The calculation’s date, designer and title will also be shown at the top of a calculation printout.

Preferences Menu
Use the Preferences menu to set your preferences for units, material properties, design criteria and session timeout.  These preferences will become the default values for future projects and calculations.

Units…
Set the default units to either US or SI.

Material Properties…
Please see the Definitions page for the definitions for this dialog box.

Design Criteria…
Set default preferences for building code, service and design load combinations, safety factors and steel ratios.

Building Code
Select the default building code.

Service Load Combinations
Select the default service load combinations.  These combinations will vary according to the building code that is selected.  These combinations will be used to check overturning, sliding, soil bearing and design of any masonry elements.

Design Load Combinations
Select the default design load combinations.  These combinations will vary according to the building code that is selected.  These combinations will be used to design any concrete elements.

Wall Safety Factors
Set the default safety factor for overturning and sliding.

Minimum Flexure Steel Ratio
Set the default minimum flexural steel ratio for both the footing and walls.

Minimum T/S Steel Ratio
Set the default minimum temperature and shrinkage steel ratio for concrete and the default minimum horizontal steel ratio for masonry.

Session Timeout…
Set the default time limit that an unattended session will wait before automatically logging out the user.

Account Menu
Go to the Account Settings page.

Logout of Daystar iStructural.com.

Projects – Add/Edit Buttons
Create a new project or make changes to the selected project.  When you click the OK button in the dialog box, the project is immediately saved back to the server.

Projects – Delete Button
Delete the selected project and all associated calculations.  Upon clicking the button, a dialog will appear asking if you are sure that you want to delete the selected project.  If you click OK the project and all associated calculations will be immediately deleted from the server.  There is no undo for this command.

Projects – Find/Find All Buttons
Find projects based on date, project id, title, etc.  Use the Find All button to show all of the projects.

Calculations – Add/Edit Buttons
Create a new calculation or make changes to the selected calculation.  Clicking the Add button will open a dialog box where you can choose what type of calculation to create.  Clicking the Edit button will open the selected calculation.

Calculations – Delete Button
Delete the selected calculation.  Upon clicking the button, a dialog will appear asking if you are sure that you want to delete the selected calculation.  If you click OK the calculation will be immediately deleted from the server.  There is no undo for this command.

Calculations – Find/Find All Buttons
Find calculations based on date, designer, title, etc.  Use the Find All button to show all of the calculations.

Calculations – Print Button
Print the selected calculation’s report.  A PDF will be opened displaying the standard report for the selected calculation’s type.
